When ordering from this secure site you will come across the telltale lock symbol on your browser's status bar whenever you are asked for sensitive credit card information.

Sites such ours are described as "secure" when they are set up to prevent unauthorized people from seeing the information that is sent to or from the site.

If your browser supports the security protocols (rules and standards that enable computers to exchange information) used by secure sites, for example Microsoft's Internet Explorer or Netscape's Navigator, you can send information to a secure site with complete safety and confidence.

Security Certificate

A security certificate (verifying the site identity and security) is automatically sent to your browser whenever you visit a secure web site - which will display a familiar lock icon on the status bar.

In fact your browser will automatically warn you that the site is not secure if you are about to send information such as your credit card number to an insecure site. If a site was to claim to be secure but its security credentials were suspect, Internet Explorer for instance can warn you that the site might have been tampered with or might be misrepresenting itself.

SSL

Short for Secure Sockets Layer, SSL is a protocol developed by Netscape for transmitting private documents via the Internet. SSL works by using a public key to encrypt data that's transferred over the SSL connection. Both Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer support SSL, and many Web sites use the protocol to obtain confidential user information, such as credit card numbers. Some URLs require an SSL connection start with https: instead of http: but, as with this site, this is not always the case.
